Frequently asked questions
What is a Used Vehicle Warranty?
A used vehicle warranty is a written agreement that protects you against the sudden failure of specified mechanical, electrical, and electronic components. It helps cover some or all of the costs of repairing or replacing these parts for a set period of time.
Today’s vehicles are built with thousands of complex moving parts, and when something goes wrong, repair costs can quickly add up. A vehicle warranty can provide valuable financial protection and potentially save you thousands of pounds on unexpected repairs.
What does my warranty cover?
Our vehicle warranty helps protect you from the cost of unexpected mechanical and electrical repairs. Depending on the level of cover you have chosen, your warranty can cover over 8,000 individual vehicle components, helping to reduce the cost of common and complex car repairs.
Coverage typically includes key mechanical and electrical parts such as components within the engine, gearbox, electrical system, cooling system, and fuel system, depending on the level of warranty you have selected.
The exact parts covered, along with any claim limits or conditions, will be outlined in your warranty agreement and Terms and Conditions.
If you are unsure what your car warranty covers, our team will be happy to review your policy and explain your level of cover.
How do I make a claim?
If your vehicle develops a fault and you need to make a warranty claim, please follow the steps below to ensure your claim can be assessed and authorised as quickly as possible.
1. Contact Our Claims team
If a fault occurs, please contact our claims team as soon as possible via phone, email, or WhatsApp so we can begin assessing your claim and guide you through the process.
2. Book your vehicle into a VAT-registered garage
Arrange for your vehicle to be inspected by a local VAT-registered garage. Once the fault has been diagnosed, ask the garage to provide a repair estimate and send this toClaims@clearcoverwarranties.co.uk for assessment.
3. Claim assessment and authorisation
Our claims team will review the diagnosis and estimate in line with your car warranty cover and Terms and Conditions. Once the claim has been authorised, the repair work can proceed.
To avoid delays or rejected claims, it is important that no repairs are started until authorisation has been given. If you are unsure about the process, our team will be happy to help guide you through making a claim.
How many warranty claims can I make?
There is no fixed limit on the number of claims you can make during the term of your car warranty, provided each claim meets the terms of your warranty agreement.
However, each claim may be subject to a maximum claim limit and/or the overall aggregate limit of your warranty policy. These limits, along with any applicable excess, will be detailed in your warranty agreement and Terms and Conditions.
To ensure your claim is covered, always contact our claims team before any repairs are carried out so the fault can be assessed and authorised in line with your warranty cover.
Does my Warranty include Rescue & Recovery?
Our Ultra Warranty includes Road Rescue and Recovery up to 40 miles if your vehicle breaks down due to a mechanical or electrical fault.
This service helps ensure your vehicle can be recovered to a nearby garage so repairs can be arranged as quickly as possible.
If you require greater coverage, you can upgrade to National Recovery at any time, providing extended recovery support across the UK.
If you are unsure whether Rescue and Recovery is included in your warranty, please check your warranty documentation or contact our team who will be happy to assist.
Do I need to service my vehicle to keep the warranty valid?
Yes. To keep your car warranty valid, your vehicle must be serviced and maintained in line with the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule.
Regular servicing helps ensure your vehicle remains in good mechanical condition and allows potential issues to be identified early. You may be asked to provide service records or invoices when making a warranty claim.
Failure to service your vehicle correctly may affect your warranty cover, so it is important to keep your servicing up to date.
Can my warranty be transferred if I sell the vehicle?
In many cases, your vehicle warranty can be transferred to the new owner if you decide to sell your car.
A transferable car warranty can increase buyer confidence and may help improve the resale value of your vehicle. To arrange a warranty transfer, please contact our team who will guide you through the process and confirm any applicable requirements.
Can I upgrade my warranty agreement?
Yes. In many cases, you can upgrade your warranty agreement to increase your level of cover or add additional benefits.
For example, you may choose to extend the duration of your warranty, increase claim limits, or add benefits such as National Recovery depending on the options available for your policy.
If you would like to upgrade your vehicle warranty, please contact our team and we will be happy to discuss the available options.
What should I do if my vehicle registration changes?
If your vehicle registration number changes, for example when adding a private number plate, you should notify us as soon as possible so we can update your warranty records. This can be done via Email or WhatsApp directly on our website.
Keeping your details up to date ensures that your car warranty remains correctly linked to your vehicle and helps prevent any issues if you need to make a claim in the future.
You can contact our team and we will update your registration details for you.
